Returns Simplified. At Gerrys Fishing, we consider the Okuma Ceymar HD (High Density) a significant evolution of the legendary Ceymar range. The C5000A is the flagship size of this series, engineered for crossover performance. This means it is equally capable of battling double-figure Pike in freshwater as it is handling hard-fighting Bass and Pollack in the salt.
The HD designation isnt just a label; it represents a complete internal overhaul. The reel features HDG-II (High-Density Gearing) with an oversized drive gear that is approximately 7% larger than standard models. This provides a massive increase in cranking power and durability. Furthermore, the screw-in aluminum handle design eliminates the play often found in traditional pass-through handles, giving you a direct, solid connection to the gears.
The CHD-C5000A is built for strength, offering a powerful retrieve and high drag capacity:

Gearing Stabilization Design: This internal architecture provides crucial support to the top, middle, and bottom of the pinion gear. This keeps the gear alignment perfect even under the extreme pressure of a big fish, ensuring smooth operation for years.
Frictionless Main Shaft Design: Unlike standard reels where the main shaft generates friction against the pinion, Okuma has hollowed out the center of the pinion gear. This results in a zero-inertia startup and an incredibly light handle turn.
Even Flow Roller System with DLC Coating: The line roller is treated with Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC). This ultra-smooth coating reduces line friction and heat buildup, which is critical for preventing line twist and prolonging the life of expensive braided lines.
Corrosion-Resistant Body: The high-modulus graphite frame and sideplates provide a rigid, lightweight foundation that is impervious to saltwater corrosion.
Flite Drive: This technology enhances the overall smoothness of the rotation, making the retrieve feel effortless even when using high-resistance lures like deep-diving crankbaits.
Power & Control: With a 9kg drag and oversized gearing, this is the reel you want when bullying fish out of thick kelp or heavy freshwater snags.
Saltwater Reliability: Between the DLC-coated roller, the graphite body, and the screw-in handle (which prevents salt ingress into the gear heart), it is built to survive the coastal environment.
Versatile Sizing: At 276g, it is exceptionally light for a 5000-size reel. It balances beautifully on 9ft-10ft lure rods without causing the wrist fatigue often associated with larger reels.
Exceptional Line Lay: The stabilization system ensures the line is packed perfectly onto the spool, which is essential for achieving maximum distance when casting into a headwind.
Gerrys Pro Tip: Because the handle screws directly into the main gear, ensure you give it a firm nip before you start fishing. This direct-drive system is much stronger than a standard handle, but it relies on that tight connection to provide the full HD feel.
