At Gerrys Fishing, we know that big, splashy lures arent always the answerespecially on those glass-calm mornings when the water is gin-clear. The Axia Glide 90 is a finesse surface lure designed for exactly these high-pressure moments. Its slim, 90mm profile perfectly mimics small fry, sprats, and tiny sandeels, providing a realistic target for bass that are spooked by larger, more aggressive plugs.
In the Silver Sardine finish, this lure provides a classic, high-flash silhouette that looks identical to a panicked baitfish skipping across the surface. It is the ultimate tool for stealth topwater angling.
Unlike heavy poppers that create a massive spray, the Axia Glide is designed for a subtle walk the dog zig-zag pattern. It cuts through the surface film with minimal splash, making it ideal for shallow water where a loud landing or aggressive action might scare off a patrolling fish. Its all about the slither rather than the splash.
At only 12.3g, you might expect this lure to struggle in the air, but Axia has equipped it with an internal ball weight transfer system. This shifts the weight to the tail during the cast, allowing this compact lure to fly straight and true. It punches well above its weight class, giving you the distance needed to reach the fish without revealing your position.
While the surface action is subtle, the internal acoustics are not. The ball weights create a distinct rhythmic rattle on the retrieve. This provides an audible dinner bell for predators, helping them track the lure through the surface film even if there is a slight ripple on the water.

Calm Estuary Creeks: When the water is dead still and the tide is just beginning to flood over the mudflats, the Glide 90 provides a non-threatening profile for schoolie and trophy bass alike.
Shallow Sandy Bays: Perfect for fishing over sandbars where small baitfish often congregate in the heat of the summer.
Harbours & Marinas: Use the subtle zig-zag action around moored boats and harbor walls where bass are often picking off small fry near the surface.
Gin-Clear Water: When the fish can see everything, the Silver Sardine finish and slim shape offer the most natural presentation possible.
Gerrys Pro Tip:
Because this is a lighter 12.3g lure, use a Medium-Light (ML) rod and thin braid (typically 0.10mm to 0.12mm). A rod with a softer tip will allow you to flick the Glide 90 into its zig-zag rhythm with much less effort. If you find the fish are following but not hitting, try a dead stopthe internal rattles will settle with a tiny click, which is often enough to provoke a strike.
Is the Silver Sardine finish durable?
Yes, Axia uses a high-quality finish designed to withstand the abrasive nature of saltwater fishing. However, we always recommend rinsing the lure in fresh water after your session to maintain the iridescent flash of the Silver Sardine scales.
What is the best retrieve speed?
The Glide 90 is most effective with a medium-to-slow twitch-twitch-twitch rhythm. You want to see that consistent zig-zag wake without the lure jumping out of the water. In very calm conditions, the slower the better.
Can I use this for species other than Bass?
Absolutely. It is a fantastic lure for large Perch in freshwater, and Mackerel will often climb all over it when they are feeding on small whitebait near the surface.
When the water goes quiet, the fishing gets tactical. Put the Axia Glide 90 in your box for those high-pressure, calm-water days.
