Fulling Mill Pumpkin Head Damsel

Fulling Mill Pumpkin Head Damsel Versatile Predator-Triggering Fly for Irish Waters

ThePumpkin Head Damsel is a highly effective stillwater fly that stands out thanks to its distinctive orange grizzle hackle. This unique feature adds contrast, movement, and visibility, setting it apart from standard damsel patterns and making it a consistent fish-catcher in a wide range of conditions.

A true multi-purpose pattern, the Pumpkin Head Damsel works equally well as a damsel nymph imitation or as a juvenile perch pattern. Its balanced profile and lifelike movement make it ideal when trout are hunting fry or patrolling margins looking for larger prey.

If youre ever unsure what fly to tie on, this is a reliable go-to option. Its natural colour scheme combined with subtle flash and movement makes it effective throughout the season, from early spring right through to late autumn.

Why It Works for Irish Trout Fishing

Irish lakes and reservoirs often hold strong populations of damsel nymphs and fry, especially around weed beds and margins. The Pumpkin Head Damsel matches both food sources perfectly, making it deadly when trout are cruising shallow water or switching to larger prey.

• Stillwater trout fishing in Ireland
