At Gerrys Fishing, weve seen the evolution of braid from rope to high-tech fiber, and the Sufix 91 G-Core X9 is at the absolute cutting edge. This isnt just another 8-strand braid; its a 9-carrier masterpiece designed for the angler who demands surgical precision in their casting and unyielding strength during the fight.
The secret to its performance lies in the core. By braiding 8 precision UHMPE fibers around a central GORE Performance Fiber, Sufix has created a line that is incredibly round and consistent. This 9-carrier construction virtually eliminates the flat spots found in lesser braids, resulting in a silky-smooth line that flies through your rod guides with minimal friction and zero noise. Whether youre punching a lure into a headwind or vertical jigging in deep water, the 91 G-Core provides the sensitivity and power you need.

GORE Performance Fiber Core: Increases abrasion resistance and reduces internal friction for a longer lifespan.
9-Carrier Braiding: Results in a rounder profile for better line lay on the spool and increased casting distance.
Super-Slick Coating: Allows the line to glide through guides silently and reduces wind knots.
Superior Knot Strength: The 9-strand structure provides more surface area for knots to bite, leading to higher break-strength retention.
Low Stretch: Provides instant feedback on subtle takes and ensures rock-solid hook sets at range.
The Wet Spool Secret: Because the 91 G-Core is so slick and round, it can sometimes slip on a bare spool. Always start with a few meters of monofilament backing, or better yet, soak your spool of braid in water for 5 minutes before winding it on under heavy tension. This wet spooling allows the fibers to bed down perfectly, preventing the line from digging into itself when youre playing a big fish.
Precision Lure Casting: The ultra-slick coating makes this a dream for flicking small lures or soft plastics where every extra meter of distance counts.
Vertical Jigging: The low-stretch properties and round profile ensure your lure stays directly under the boat with zero line drag in the current.
Heavy Cover Fishing: The GORE core provides that extra bit of insurance when pulling Pike or Zander out of abrasive snags and reed beds.
Does the green color bleed or fade?
Sufix uses a high-quality dyeing process, but like all braids, some color loss is natural over time. However, the low-vis green is designed to remain stealthy even as it wears, blending perfectly into weedy or peaty water.
Why is a 9-strand braid better than an 8-strand?
An 8-strand braid is often slightly flat. By adding the 9th GORE fiber in the center, the line becomes a true cylinder. This roundness improves casting distance, makes the line quieter through the rings, and ensures it doesnt dig in to the spool under pressure.
Is this braid noisy through the guides?
Not at all. The 9-carrier construction and super-slick coating make the 91 G-Core one of the quietest lines on the market. Its perfect for stealth fishing in clear water.
What knots work best with Sufix 91 G-Core?
Because it is so smooth, we recommend high-wrap knots. For braid-to-leader connections, an FG Knot or a back-to-back Uni Knot (with at least 8-10 wraps) will provide the most secure connection
